About

Creating spaceflight content and 3D renders

I create high quality, high detailed 3d animations and renders, and while I'm at it, i have a YouTube channel where i teach people about everything spaceflight related.

My Story

My name is Duarte Guarita (Better known online, as Kion).

I’m a 16 year old YouTuber and 3d artist from Portugal.

I create high quality educational YouTube videos to teach people about the amazing engineering of rockets, spacecraft, and anything spaceflight related. I’m also a 3D artist, specialized in creating high quality, realistic and detailed 3d renders and animations of rockets, spacecraft, space, and also nature.

Since I was very young I’ve always been interested in spaceflight and science. I also always loved to pick up a camera, and start to record some random videos of whatever, and I always loved making art since I was little.

On May 11th 2021, I started what has now become my main YouTube channel. Since I found the platform, I’ve always been interested in creating YouTube videos, and one day I finally decided to just start.

Some time in 2022, I also started to learn a 3d software known as Blender, at the time, to create mods for the space game Kerbal Space Program. After, I started to experiment with other things in Blender, and then decided to learn Blender from the start to become the 3d artist that I am now.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to questions you might have!

What software do you use?

I mainly use Blender for 3d modeling, Affinity Studio for photo editing, making thumbnails and doing general graphic design stuff, and DaVinci Resolve for video editing.

How long have you been a 3d artist for?

I’ve been using Blender since 2021 for KSP mods (around 5 years ago), however, for 3d rendering, since at least 2022.

I started my journey in 3d because I wanted to create mods for the space game Kerbal Space Program (specifically, version 1). However, after some time, I started playing around in Blender, and I eventually found myself watching tutorials to learn more about modeling, texturing, etc., until landing where I’m now, creating visuals for educational videos, posting on my socials, and i try to share the knowledge I've learned to the best of my abilities.

When did you fall in love with space?

I’ve always loved space and science. I remember when I watched a Space Shuttle launch video when I was young, and that video sparked my curiosity for learning more and staying curious about space. Before that I had some space books, but that video was the first real rocket launch footage I've ever seen. I also remember watching Falcon 9 launches from my dad’s room later on, specifically the Iridium 5 mission which launched on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket.

I also think space has a special thing, kind of like the overview effect. In the sense that, space is the one of the things where humanity gets together to solve amazing problems, and the mysteries of our universe, along with many other things, and I think that's very beautiful.

If you are thinking of starting a career in aerospace, academia, or any other STEM field, I highly recommend going for it!

When did you start your YouTube channel and why?

Since I was young, I always grabbed a camera and filmed random videos, even with my dog, going on a walk, etc. However, I always had in mind that at some point I would like to start a YouTube channel.

So, sometime in 2021, I decided to create my YouTube channel. It first started out as a platform where I would just upload anything. Like for example, vlogs, Blender tutorials, space videos, etc.

In 2025, I decided to shift my focus to only cover Blender and space related content. This was so that YouTube could better recognize the right audience for my channel. However, later in 2026, I decided to focus exclusively on spaceflight related content, so I could focus on the one niche I really enjoyed making videos about, while still using 3d renders to explain the concepts visually.

What is your PC specs?

In 2026, I upgraded from my dad’s 2016 pc, which got an RTX 2070 upgrade, to a way more powerful pc, which is good since my work requires a lot of computing power for things like rendering, simulations, video editing, etc.

Here are my PC specs:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D 16-Core Processor
- GPU: RTX 5080
- RAM: 96.0 GB
- Storage (SSD): 3.6 TB (I know... its a lot lol)
- OS: Windows 11 Pro

Do you use AI in your videos?

I do not use any sort of generative image or video AI in my videos. The only type of "generative" AI I use is maybe some minor help from an AI chatbot (like ChatGPT or Google's AI Search), for structuring my videos when I'm struggling. All of the scripts, and text content are hand written by me, and all custom made 3d and 2d animations and renders are 100% human made by me.

Associated Projects

Over my lifespan, I've been fortunate to create and work for many small businesses. I’m open and honest to share my past and my present.
